itunes, you clever tease

So far so productive. Managed to get my passport renewed, write a release come up with a quote for another release, delegate some work, consider some ideas, monitor some clippings, do a few sums with excel, thank a journalist and eat some muffin (not a euphemism). All before one.

While I have been engaged in all of these activities however I have been plagued with one song knocking around my head. That song is Bruises by Chairlift.

Oh well at least it’s better than Babylon Zoo.

Bruises is pretty lovely as songs go - beaty and melodic with rather whimsical lyrics. Lovely, but the stickiness of it is beginning to irk now and as the song is currently the soundtrack for the new ipod nano ads I know I won’t be able to release from my noggin for quite a few weeks yet. Arghhh.

In an effort to relinquish the song I bought the album through itunes last night (see? That’s how it works). Buying the album hasn’t quite smoothed-out Bruises from my memory but I’m glad to have bought it and I’ll probably try and see the band when they’re in town at the end of the month (see? That’s how it works +). While online I also spent more than I intended through also purchasing Thin Lizzy, Smog and MGMT (++).

Buying music from itunes is quite nice in that unlike a real life shop, where you have to face people and stuff, you can buy that song that you heard in a commercial or that album that just won the Mercury Prize without looking like a complete Sally-come-lately to the clearly-cooler-than-you staff. Sadly, unlike a shop, browsing CD spines isn’t possible on itunes nor is sending in your mum with strict instructions on the album you’d like for your birthday only for her to pick up the wrong Shine compilation. (I already had Shine 2).

I couldn’t find the Adam and Joe Song Wars album or the Glasvegas album on last night's itunes visit. Geo-blocked perhaps? Anyway itunes, all I’m saying is don’t use an beguiling catchy song in an advert that then encourages me to check out your shop which, while buying album, reminds me to look for other stuff and then not have that stuff available.

Tease.
